독일어 단어인 Handwerk(한트베르크)는 수공업(手工業)이라는 뜻 이지만, 단어를 손이라는 Hand(한트)와 일, 작업, 작품 등의 뜻이 있는 Werk(베르크)로 나누어 Hand-Werk(한트-베르크) 즉, '손에 대한 작품'이라는 뜻으로 사용하였다.

(나의) 손을 주제로 삼았다. 따로 특별한 이야기 없이 단지 손에 대해 다루는데, 손을 음악적 표현이나 구성의 재료로 다루어 보고자 했다. 내 손에서 여러 종류의 특정한 음악적 착상(着想)을 얻었고, 다시 이것을 손의 특징이나 기능을 토대로 재정립 했다. 그런식으로 아직 잘 정리되지 않았던 머리 속의 울림들을 손에 기초한 특정한 구조와 시스템에 담아 낼 수 있었다.

Die Hand (meine Hand) ist ein Thema für dieses Stück. Das Werk behandelt die Hände, aber keine Geschichte. Ich habe versucht, das Thema „Hand“ selbst als musikalisches Ausgangsmaterial (Struktur) zu komponieren. Durch meine eigene Hand bin ich zu bestimmten verschiedenartigen Klangvorstellungen gekommen, die wiederum auf Grund bestimmter Eigenschaften bzw. Funktionen der Hand definiert wurden. Dadurch konnte ich meine zunächst ungeordneten Klangfantasien zu einer bestimmten Struktur und einem darauf basierenden System unterwerfen.

(Es tut mir leid, dass mein Deutsch nicht perfekt ist!)

The German word 'Handwerk' means of the handiwork. But I separate the words hand and work(​Hand-Werk), then it is used in 'The work on hands' sense.

The hand (my hand) is a theme for this piece. The work deals with the hands, but no history. I tried to compose the theme "hand" itself as a musical starting material (structure). Through my own hand I joined some different kinds of musical ideas, in turn, on the basis of certain characteristics or functions of the hand have been defined. Thereby I was able to submit my first disordered sound fantasies to a certain structure and thereon based system.
